Dialogic Academic Presses Successfully Launched
Dialogic Academic Presses (DAPresses) was officially launched on Saturday, 1 August 2026, bringing together distinguished researchers, scholars, academics, editors, and practitioners from across the globe.
The launch, moderated by Dr Atieme Ogbolosingha of Imperial College London, United Kingdom, featured keynote addresses from leading academics across Africa and the United Kingdom. In his address, Dr Chukwuma Ogbonnaya of Loughborough University, United Kingdom, and Chair of the Dialogic Joint Editorial Board, highlighted the role of functional research, innovation, and commercialisation ecosystems (RISE) in driving Gross Domestic Product (GDP), global power, and influence. Drawing on recent data from the Nature Index, SCImago Journal Ranking, International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), and Global Innovation Index (GII), he explained how DAPresses can support low-income countries and minority states (LICMS) through affordable, accessible, and credible platforms for knowledge creation, curation, dissemination, and use. He further linked this mission to the pursuit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science.
Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar, Vice-Chancellor of Azman University, Kano, urged researchers to move beyond the philosophy of “publish or perish” towards “publish to transform.” She emphasised the importance of research outputs that deliver real societal impact and called for greater attention to African indigenous knowledge through credible peer-reviewed platforms such as DAPresses.
Prof. Stephen Irura Ng’ang’a, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Garissa University, Kenya, stressed the importance of partnerships, collaboration, and Open Science in advancing Africa’s knowledge economy. Drawing from international collaborative research experience, he described DAPresses as a timely and critical research infrastructure for Africa and the wider global scholarly community.
Prof. Akindele Michael Okedoye of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, emphasised the need for quality, credibility, and integrity in Open Science, particularly as artificial intelligence continues to influence knowledge creation. As Sectional Editor Lead for Mathematics, he expressed confidence that DAPresses’ editorial processes will be guided by best practices and global standards.
Prof. Mukhtar formally launched DAPresses and invited authors, editors, reviewers, and readers to engage with the platform as a critical infrastructure for Open Science, sustainable development, and global knowledge exchange.
